April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention month

April 25, 2016 By Scott Peterson

dhs

April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month and Jim Koppel with the state Department of Human Services is encouraging all Minnesotans to take some extra time to be aware of the needs of the children in our lives.  Koppel says “the earlier someone calls in about a concern of a child being home alone or some other problem that they think is serious, the earlier there can be intervention and a better chance for successful outcomes.”
In 2014, more than 25,000 children were assessed for abuse and neglect in Minnesota. For more information on child protection issues, you can visit the Department of Human Services website here.
