(St. Paul, MN) — A Ramsey County judge set the next court hearing November 30th, after attorneys for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis appeared in court this morning (Thurs) regarding criminal charges that church officials failed to protect children from a sexually-abusive priest. It’s the first time an archdiocese in the U-S has been charged with such an offense and it comes after former priest Curtis Wehmeyer (WAY-meyer) was convicted of sexually abusing two sons of a parishioner in 2010. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi says his office remains “steadfastly committed” to holding the archdiocese accountable for contributing to the harm done to three victims, and “protecting children going forward by ensuring the Archdiocese takes corrective and preventive measures.”
