Officials at the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis says a lawsuit settlement agreement with Ramsey County prosecutors does more than the law would require to keep children safe from sex abuse by clergy. Tim O’Malley, former B-C-A superintendent who now heads a special oversight office for the archdiocese, says there is going to be “a wide-open level of accountability that wasn’t there before.” O’Malley says there will be outside audits and if Ramsey County prosecutors believe the archdiocese is not fulfilling the agreement, they can go to a judge who can order the church to comply.
