Caylin Donovan

The State Patrol is asking the public for any information about Friday evening’s hit-and-run crash that killed 10-year-old Caylin Donovan of Lake Park as she was walking alone on Highway 18 near Mille Lacs Lake. State Patrol Chief, Colonel Matt Langer says, “Whether you saw Caylin before the crash, whether you saw the crash, or whether you saw something suspect or just now in hindsight you think, geez, I wonder if that person could have been involved, we really urge you to call.”   Anyone with information should call 218-316-3025.

Officials say the driver might not have know they hit Caylin.  Langer says, “It is certainly possible in this case that someone driving that road, whether they’re driving a vehicle, whether they’re pulling a camper or pulling a boat or pulling any type of trailer,… it’s possible that the driver may not have known what they were involved with or the gravity of the situation.”  Langer says Caylin was visiting family and perhaps went out to the road to get a better cell phone signal.
