Former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said on a radio program over the weekend she’s *not* running for U-S Senate in 2018 because “I wasn’t hearing any call from God to do this.” Bachmann, an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2012, made the comment on “Understanding the Times Radio.” Backers were hoping she’d challenge Democratic Senator Tina Smith, who’s running in November to fill the balance of former Senator Al Franken’s term. There’s currently one major Republican in that race — state Senator Karin Housley from Saint Marys Point.
