Backers packed a room across the street from the State Capitol today, showing support for a bill that would require background checks on all gun sales in Minnesota, including on-line and at gun shows. They face stiff opposition in an election year from gun rights groups, but D-F-L Senator Ron Latz sparked loud cheers when he said, “we’ve got the people power here.” House sponsor, Cottage Grove Democrat Dan Schoen acknowledges it’s an “uphill battle, but you can’t lose hope.”
