The Becker County Sheriff’s Office is asking the Minnesota B-C-A to investigate the conduct of Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd. Chief Todd has apologized for placing his hand on the neck of a 12-year-old boy at a baseball game. Todd said in a statement that he thought the boy was trying to steal his bicycle. Some witnesses alleged that Todd was yelling at the boy and choked him. Detroit Lakes Mayor Matt Brenk says he sees it as a misunderstanding and Chief Todd will remain on the job while state investigators look into his conduct.
