Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is in Minneapolis this morning (11am at First Avenue) and in Duluth this afternoon (5pm at Denfeld High School), campaigning for Congressman Keith Ellison who’s running for Minnesota attorney general. Republican Party of Minnesota Chair Jennifer Carnahan contends Ellison linking up with Sanders continues Democrats’ extreme, polarizing approach to politics. Carnahan says, “That’s the path they [Democrats] keep on going, which is good for Republicans because I think that just continues to put us in a position to turn Minnesota red in November.” Ellison responds such comments are “just a bunch of political stuff that they’re saying to try to keep people from talking about how this economy’s not really working for working people.”
Ellison is in a five-way battle in the August 14th primary election against DFL-endorsed candidate Matt Pelikan and Democratic rivals Debra Hilstrom, Tom Foley and Mike Rothman.
