Bernie Sanders campaigned in Duluth Friday night on behalf of Keith Ellison for Minnesota attorney general, but spent a good part of his speech blasting the president. “I say to President Trump, this country has struggled for too many years fighting against discrimination,” Sanders told a cheering crowd at Denfeld High School. “We are not going backwards! We are going forwards!” Republican attorney general candidate Doug Wardlow calls Sanders and Ellison “two socialists… like peas in a pod.”
As he did in Minneapolis earlier in the day, Sanders continued hammering the president on his immigration policy, saying to tear little children from their mother’s arms on the southern border, “President Trump, that is not a sign of strength. That is a sign of weakness…. That is not what this country is about.”
Republican attorney general candidate Wardlow says most Minnesotans reject Sanders’ and Ellison’s demands for government-run health care, higher taxes and stripping Americans of their Second Amendment rights.
