Organizers expect large turnout when Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has a campaign rally with Congresswoman Ilhan Omar tomorrow night (Sun) at Williams Arena on the U-of-M’s Minneapolis campus. Hamline University analyst Dave Schultz says it’s not clear whether it will boost national poll numbers for Sanders, who’s lost ground to progressive rival Elizabeth Warren. But Schultz notes, “Both Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are competing for the progressive wing of the party, and given that Ilhan Omar is, let us say, one of the favorites of the new progressive wing, this will not hurt him [Sanders] and in fact probably will help him.”
