School districts for this school year only, because of days lost to bad weather, could reduce their classroom days to less than the 165 required by state law, under a bill being debated in Minnesota Senate committee this afternoon. But sponsor, Rochester Republican Carla Nelson also says, “If school districts choose to lower their school days this year because of weather, then they’re required to strongly consider adopting e-learning days.”
Districts are currently limited to five e-learning days per school year. Nelson says because of the high number of snow days this year, her committee will likely consider allowing a larger number of e-learning days.
