A bill up for debate at the Minnesota Legislature this year would restrict the use of drones by law enforcement. Sponsor, Minneapolis Democrat Scott Dibble says by combining all the new technologies, “pretty soon law enforcement has the ability to pretty much track everyone going everywhere all the time.” Jim Franklin with the Minnesota Sheriffs Association told lawmakers he doesn’t know how many of them have chased people with guns in cornfields, but it’s a little scary and “anything that we can use… and get help from above we welcome.” Franklin says no law enforcement agencies in Minnesota are currently using drones.
