A bill that would add 328 corrections officers at Minnesota prisons over the next four years is named after Officer Joseph Gomm, who was killed last July by an inmate at Stillwater Prison. Bill sponsor, D-F-L Representative Jack Considine from Mankato says he asked Gomm’s family for permission to name the bill after the fallen corrections officer.
Considine’s bill would meet the AFSCME union’s demand for additional corrections officers. 150 would be added the first year.
