(St. Paul, MN) — A bipartisan group of state lawmakers today (MON) unveiled their plan to stop a childcare shortage in Minnesota. Republican Representative Mary Franson from Alexandria says the legislation is the result of parent and provider feedback provided at listening tours throughout the state last month. The bill would create a task force to find long-term solutions to the shortage. And it seeks to remove licensing inconsistencies and streamline the administrative process for home providers. Franson says the state has lost more than 3000 home providers over the last decade–and that’s “putting pressure on families who cannot find care, and is putting economic strain on communities, especially in greater Minnesota.”
