Black community members are angry after Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced this morning that criminal charges are not warranted against the two officers involved in the police shooting of Jamar Clark. One woman told Freeman, “The only people who have corroborated the statements that you referenced are the two officers who murdered Jamar Clark.”
Clark’s cousin, Cameron, says he doesn’t believe Freeman’s version of what happened. Nekima Levy Pounds, head of the Minneapolis NAACP, says “We will not go in a corner and cry. We’re gonna stand toward and rise for justice. We’re gonna take to the streets.”
One woman accused Freeman of not giving an accurate portrayal of what took place with the investigation.
“Today you pushed propaganda,” she said, “and… if the city burns, it’s on your hands.”
