Much of Minnesota is still digging out from this weekend’s blizzard. Several highways in southeastern Minnesota remain closed this (Monday) morning due to snow drifts creating hazardous driving conditions. MnDOT says crews are working to re-open Interstate 35 from Owatonna to the Iowa border and I-90 from the Wisconsin border to the west of Albert Lea. The National Guard and law enforcement rescued dozens of people in vehicles stranded in blizzard conditions Saturday night and Sunday. Dodge County reported that snowplows, tow trucks, and squad cars were stuck on the snow-covered roads Sunday. The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting 165 crashes Sunday, 160 with injury, 404 vehicles off the road and seven jackknifed semis. The state is under a wind chill advisory through this morning (Monday) for dangerous temperatures and wind chills. It was minus-24 with a 40-below zero wind chill in Crookston, minus-17 at Bemidji, 11-below with a minus-28 wind chill in Brainerd, and negative-five in the Twin Cities and Rochester.
