(Hollywood, CA) — Bloomington-born Pete Docter won an Oscar last night for his animated Pixar film “Inside Out”. Docter says growing up in Minnesota still has an influence on him. He says there’s a “familiarity and kindness” here that continues to impact how he approaches storytelling.
“Inside Out” focuses on the emotions of a teenage girl. In accepting his award last night, Docter urged kids who feel angry, sad or scared to “make stuff” and be creative. Docter also received an Academy Award for his film “Up” in 2010.
