B-N-S-F Railway expects to spend 130 million dollars in Minnesota this year for maintenance and upgrades to its system. It comes as railroads receive increasing scrutiny over safety of oil trains in particular. B-N-S-F’s Amy McBeth says they continue working with communities on grade separation projects and fund a small portion of the cost. She says “we’ve been talking with the state on those areas in particular and will continue to do that.” Governor Mark Dayton is asking the legislature to approve nearly 70 million dollars in state bonding for highway rail grade separations in Moorhead, Prairie Island and Coon Rapids.
