“We’re moving backwards,” said Governor Mark Dayton after a meeting at his office with legislative leaders to try to revive a bonding bill for state construction projects which died at the end of the regular session one month ago. Dayton says Republicans came with additional demands including a controversial school tax credit and adds, “unless you’re serious about trying to resolve the differences rather than add to the differences, we’re not gonna get anywhere. So I’m very pessimistic at this point.” Dayton and Democrats want a special session before the 4th of July. House Speaker Republican Kurt Daudt says the governor “unfortunately thinks it’s unreasonable for us to expect to bring anything to the table for negotiations and that we should simply live with his entire list of demands. Sorry.” No further meetings are scheduled at this point.
