The Brownsdale man charged with murdering a rural Freeborn County man last August at Myre-Big Island State Park has been found guilty of second degree murder. 27-year-old David Easter shot 23-year-old Spencer Brown of rural Freeborn County two times in the head. Easter claims self-defense, but there’s no evidence the victim came at him with a baseball bat. During trial Easter also claimed he saw the victim reaching for the barrel of a gun and feared for his life. Easter’s wife and young child were present during the incident but were not injured.
