Today 3M Open officials announced another collection of player commitments, with strong credentials, who will compete in the third edition of the 3M Open, scheduled for July 19-25 at TPC Twin Cities.
Major champions Bubba Watson and Gary Woodland committed earlier this week. Watson, a two-time Masters champion, missed the cut in his only appearance last year. This will be Woodland’s first start in the 3M Open. He won the 2019 U.S. Open. Matt Kuchar, a nine-time PGA TOUR winner and fan-favorite, will also be making his first start.
2019 champion Matthew Wolff joins defending champion Michael Thompson in the field. Wolff, 22, was in contention for three rounds at the U.S. Open a few weeks ago before shooting one-over par in the final-round, eventually finishing T15. He won the inaugural 3M Open, draining an eagle putt on the 72nd hole to defeat Bryson DeChambeau and Colin Morikawa by one stroke.
Other young players joining Wolff are Cameron Champ and Cam Davis. Champ, 26, won the 2018 Sanderson Farms Championship and the 2019 Safeway Classic. He missed the cut here in 2019 and did not play last year. Davis, 26, won the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week. The Australian was T12 last year in the 3M Open.
Earlier tournament officials announced commitments from World No. 2 Dustin Johnson and fellow major champions Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Stewart Cink, Jason Dufner and Lucas Glover as well as the colorful and popular star Rickie Fowler.
Players have until Friday, July 16 to commit to the 156-player field and can withdraw at any time.
