Federal regulation of agriculture was one topic as candidates for Congress squared off today at Farmfest near Redwood Falls. First-district Democratic Congressman Tim Walz says “when the issue came up on Waters of the U-S [regulation], it was the people in this room,… it was myself, it was others that said, we need to take a re-look at that.” Challenger Jim Hagedorn fired back he has huge differences with Walz over federal regulations. Hagedorn says, “Congressman Walz wants to leave that power with the EPA and Obama. I want it to go back to you and your people’s representatives.” Hagedorn faces Republican challenger Steve Williams in Tuesday’s primary election. The winner is up against Walz in November.
