(St. Paul, MN) — Alex Ovechkin scored his 44th and 45th of the season in the first period to help the Capitals slip past the Wild 4-3 on Sunday night at Xcel Energy Center. Zach Parise scored his team leading 23rd of the year at 12:53 of the third on the power play to cut the lead to one but the Wild couldn’t fully close the gap. Minnesota also got goals from Kevin Fiala and Ryan Donato.

Wild forward Ryan Donato scored his 14th of the year on Sunday against the Caps.
The loss stopped the Wild’s three game winning streak. Alex Stalock suffered the loss on 26 saves. The Wild host Nashville on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to close the brief homestand.
