A West Fargo man accused of assaulting a special needs teenager while working as a caregiver in Moorhead has been found “not guilty” of misdemeanor assault. Clay County prosecutors say Ishmael Sesay punched the girl in the face after she ran away from her south Moorhead apartment last September. The 15-year-old girl suffers from autism and requires 24 hour supervision. The girl testified that she got into a dispute with Sesay, fled the apartment and because she was afraid of him. She told jurors that Sesay chased her on foot, grabbed her by the arms and punched her in the left eye, causing a concussion. Defense attorney Lindsey Haugen said Sesay was acting in self-defense. Assistant Clay County Attorney Mike Leeser said it’s not the result he was hoping for, but Leeser said he respects the jury’s verdict.
