Crews this morning removed a center span of the old I-90 Mississippi River bridge at Dresbach, lowering the 300-foot-long, 1.2-million pound steel section to a waiting barge which ferried it to shore. Navigation on a section of the river was shut down while the work was done. MN-DOT’s Mike Dougherty says crews will repeat the same process in late June or early July when the westbound middle span is removed. Work on the new I-90 Mississippi River crossing will be completed this fall at a cost of 187 million dollars.
