Check DNR’s website this weekend for storm-related closures

July 23, 2016 By Bill Werner

Expect glitches at a few Minnesota state parks this weekend following Thursday’s severe storms. Most facilities are open at Itasca State Park and Savanna State Park, but check the D-N-R’s website for latest info. Closures were reported earlier at Greer Lake State Forest Campground and Clint Converse Campground, but D-N-R spokeswoman Pat Arndt says because state forest campgrounds are all first come, first served, “we particularly would like it… if people would go to the website to check for that, because we don’t have any way to notify visitors if a campground is closed in the state forest campground.”  Officials recommend people not use the Paul Bunyan State Trail from Bemidji to Walker because of debris.
