Choi enlists special prosecutor Don Lewis for help in Philando Castile case

July 29, 2016 By Scott Peterson

John Choi

Ramsey County Attorney John Choi has appointed a special prosecutor to help his office determine how to proceed with the Philando Castile case.

Choi says he selected Don Lewis because of his experience and impartiality. Choi says Lewis “will be an integral member of our team who will review this case with me and be substantially involved in our decision to charge, decline or present the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigation to a Ramsey County Grand Jury.”

32-year-old Philando Castile was shot and killed by an officer during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights on July 6th.

The BCA’s investigation of the case remains ongoing.
