It was a close call for two kayakers whose craft overturned late Sunday morning on the Mississippi River near the Sauk Rapids Bridge. Authorities say 23-year-old Anna Rossburg of Cambridge was able to get out of the rapids and swim toward shore, but 23-year-old Leo Johnsen from Sauk Rapids went under at least three times in an hydraulic whirlpool before he was able to escape and another person helped him to shore. Johnsen was treated at a Saint Cloud hospital for minor injuries.
