The U-S Coast Guard says it’s working on a plan that would allow cruise ships carrying passengers stricken with COVID-19 to dock in South Florida and handle medical issues without further stressing hospitals in the area. At least six Minnesotans are reportedly on board — four of whom are ill. At last report four passengers had died and over a hundred were sick with flu-like symptoms. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar says she talked with the cruise ship’s parent company and claims officials “had clear signs that COVID-19 presented severe and unique risks” before the ship departed and the company is responsible for getting all passengers medical care immediately. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told Fox News earlier, “We cannot afford to have people who are not even Floridians dumped into South Florida using up those valuable resources.”
