Collin Peterson could be Democratic lone wolf if he votes “no” on impeachment

December 18, 2019 By Bill Werner

Analysts say Seventh District Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson will be one of few — and maybe the only Democrat voting “no” on impeachment of President Trump in the U-S House today. Minnesota D-F-L Party Chairman Ken Martin says about that, “While I disagree strongly with his decision on impeachment,… the reality is, the vast majority of people in the 7th District do not support impeachment.” Martin says Peterson is one of the few politicians in Washington who still puts his district ahead of his party, and because of that “he’s survived for close to 30 years now in the most Republican district in the country held by a Democrat.”

Peterson said Democrats have not presented a solid enough case and, with little chance of the Republican-controlled Senate voting to convict the president, the process is only further dividing the country.
