In the wake of a recent federal law change involving Medicare, the Commerce Department’s Ross Corson says they’ve received some complaints about potentially misleading or deceptive advertisements and sales solicitations, and “we are urging Medicare shoppers to be alert for deceptive advertising.” Corson says if you’re looking for Medicare on the Internet, “make sure that you go to the official website, which is medicare.gov, and don’t be fooled by non-government private websites with similar addresses, such as medicare.com. or medicare.org or medicare.net.” If you suspect
a scam, call the Commerce Department. Or, for help on understanding Medicare choices, you can call the Senior LinkAge Line at 1-800-333-2433. Here’s more of MNN’s Scott Peterson’s interview with Ross Corson.
