The United Steelworkers union says they’ve agreed not to bad-mouth the company and Mesabi Metallics commits to *no* anti-union campaign, as they continue efforts to bring the old Essar Steel plant in Nashwauk back on line. Steelworkers union spokesman John Rebrovich says, “It’s done the fair way, I guess, the gentleman’s way, and people are… [told], here’s the United Steelworkers and they want to talk to you, and we have an opportunity to talk to ’em.”
Rebrovich says when the company hires workers — probably within a year — if a majority sign up to join the union, the Steelworkers will then begin contract negotiations.
