The Ramsey County Attorney’s office has turned over the investigation of an officer-involved shooting in St. Paul to the Washington County Attorney’s office over a potential conflict of interest. Officials say one of the officers involved in the fatal shooting of Jaffort Smith is a son of an employee in the Ramsey County Attorney’s office. Investigators say Smith shot a woman, then shot at police who were pursuing him. Four officers returned fire and Smith was killed.
