First District Congressman Jim Hagedorn is resting comfortably after surgery today at Rochester’s Mayo Clinic to remove one of his kidneys and surrounding cancerous tissue. Hagedorn says about two years ago he was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer, which immunotherapy beat back and localized to one kidney. He says because his condition improved so dramatically and his other kidney functions just fine, doctors decided it was time to remove the diseased kidney. Hagedorn says, “Ultimately, it’s the healing hands of God, the Mayo Clinic, and the innovative immunotherapy that are pulling me through.”
