Congresswoman Omar applauds federal judge blocking Trump ban on border asylum applications

Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is applauding a federal judge temporarily blocking President Trump’s move to bar nearly all asylum applications at the Mexican border — even as the White House says it will fight the court decision. Omar calls the ruling “an important victory for… basic human dignity, and all people seeking a better life and a shot at the American Dream.” But the White House says it will pursue “all available options… to defend this Nation’s borders.” Omar responds refugees are fleeing oppression but “instead of addressing the unrest we have fueled, we are making it worse and then torturing the people who come to our border.”
