The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office told a judge Tuesday it is satisfied with the progress the Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis has made in implementing new “safe environment” standards to prevent future priest sex abuse. It comes out of a settlement agreement one year ago. Archbishop Bernard Hebda says to victims, “I hope this gives them a level of reassurance that we’re indeed committed to doing everything that we can to make sure that their experience isn’t repeated.” Hebda says of the victims and survivors he’s talked with, their number-one concern is that it doesn’t happen again and “I hope that this is reassuring for them that we continue to be committed in that area.” Attorneys at Anderson and Associates, who are representing a number of victims in legal actions against the archdiocese, had no comment.
