Court monitoring of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis now ends, after a Ramsey County judge this morning accepted a final progress report on tightened protocols to prevent clergy sex abuse. Ramsey County Attorney John Choi says, “The archdiocese has gone well beyond the actual terms of the settlement agreement and they have very much embraced and gone beyond what the spirit of this is all about.”
Archbishop Bernard Hebda apologized to victims of clergy sex abuse and pledged to continue working with Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. “This is certainly not a time to relax. Quite the opposite. Hard, persistent work to maintain vigilance across the 12 counties of the archdiocese must continue,” Hebda said.
