Six more Minnesotans have died from COVID-19–the fewest deaths in the state in one day since April 13th — and hospitalizations have also dropped to their lowest level since late April. But the state Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann remains cautious. “We’re pleased that our health care system has a chance to breathe and catch up,” Ehresmannn says, “but I think it’s too early for us to look upon Texas and Arizona and say, oh, we dodged that bullet.”
Officials are waiting to see if there’s a spike in COVID cases from parts of Minnesota’s economy reopening June 1st, and from large protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. And health officials say there’s evidence that the U-S could be hit with a second wave of COVID infections.
