Governor Mark Dayton is accusing Republicans of misrepresenting his stance on new veterans homes in Bemidji, Montevideo and Preston. Dayton says it’s *not* true that “because I don’t support taking money from the [Vikings] Stadium Reserve Fund, I don’t support the new veterans homes. That’s just absolutely untruthful.” Representative Sarah Anderson said “it’s disappointing to hear the governor express opposition to our common-sense plan… to build three critically-needed veterans homes” — but a House GOP spokeman says Anderson never accused Dayton of not supporting veterans homes. Dayton says Republicans’ plan won’t raise enough money to build and operate three new facilities. He says bonding is one possibility — but Dayton’s bonding proposal is already much larger than Republicans want.
