It’s expected Governor Mark Dayton’s administration will announce today whether it will approve the final environmental review for the proposed PolyMet copper-nickel mine on Minnesota’s Iron Range. Last November the D-N-R concluded the project would not significantly affect water quality. Environmental groups say their analysis is flawed. Backers say PolyMet will create hundreds of jobs in an area of Minnesota that needs an economic boost. Governor Mark Dayton said earlier the PolyMet decision would likely be the most difficult of his time in office. “I want to know that every single possible outcome has been considered in advance,” he said.
