State Senator Warren Limmer
Governor Mark Dayton is asking the federal government to give the state more time to comply with requirements of the federal REAL ID — otherwise Minnesota drivers licenses might not be valid for boarding domestic flights. But Republican state Senator Warren Limmer and others warn REAL ID gives the federal government too much information on citizens. Limmer says lawmakers are looking at other options such as in neighboring Wisconsin. He says for example people who don’t travel a lot on airplanes could use passports instead of the controversial real I-D. Limmer says “some of us are looking into that for those who don’t want to be tracked on every move that we may make in the future.”
