Senator Al Franken gave his final speech on the U-S Senate floor today and Governor Mark Dayton says he knows it has to be a very difficult time for Franken and his family. Dayton says Franken “made the necessary decision at that time, and to his credit he’s stuck with it. He hasn’t been influenced by some of these other comments [that have] been made. I think it’s time to move forward.” Dayton says Lieutenant Governor Smith is fully prepared to take the oath of office as Franken’s replacement and become a “really effective” U-S senator.
