Three weeks remain in the legislative session and Governor Mark Dayton continues his push for a gas tax increase to fund road and bridge improvements.
Dayton says no one wants more taxes, but people say “yes” when you ask them if they’re willing to pay five or tens cents more per gallon, rather than letting roads and bridges continue to get worse. But House Speaker, Republican Kurt Daudt (DOWT) says Minnesotans don’t support a gas tax increase because “when we have a 900-million-dollar surplus, it’s not appropriate to take more money out of Minnesota family budgets.”
