Governor Mark Dayton remains at Mayo Clinic in Rochester after undergoing back surgery Monday and is reportedly in good spirits and doing well. Dayton’s spokesman says it’s not usual for a patient to remain hospitalized as long as a week after such a procedure, but there’s no word yet on how soon the governor will go home. The surgery was similar to that performed on Dayton three years ago, which fused two vertebrae in the governor’s lower back and helped improve strength and stability in his legs. Dayton expects similar improvements from this procedure.
