Dayton encourages Minnesotans to see if they qualify for federal healthcare tax credits

October 24, 2016 By Tasha Redel

Dayton 1-8-16

As state lawmakers work to find a solution to help Minnesotans impacted by rising health insurance premiums, the Health Department estimates there are as many as 100,000 people eligible for state and federal tax credits who are not taking advantage of them.

“I strongly urge Minnesotans to contact MNsure representatives and find out how much those tax credits could reduce or even eliminate their premium hikes.”

Governor Dayton says he’s open to calling a special session to address rising premiums–possibly even before the November 8th elections, which he previously said he would not do. He’s proposing around $313 million in reserve money be used to help struggling Minnesotans.
