Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders say they’re ready to start negotiating specifics of the state budget Saturday following a Friday afternoon closed-door meeting. The governor says, “I think we’re pretty well squared away that we can have apples-to-apples comparisons when we start trying to reconcile our budget numbers. That was a big accomplishment. I thought that was gonna be much more protracted.” But even though Dayton and Republicans now are able to make direct comparisons of each of their budget proposals, big differences remain — especially over the size of tax cuts and human services spending.
