Republicans and Governor Mark Dayton are getting closer to facing off in court with an June 26th court hearing set on legislative leaders’ lawsuit against the governor. Senate Republican Majority Leader Paul Gazelka says he’s always looking for a way *not* to end up in front of a judge. Gazelka says, “I do continue to have conversations and I will continue to have conversations until it won’t work anymore that way.” But Governor Dayton says Republican leaders are not willing to budge on his demand to undo several newly-enacted tax breaks, plus make other concessions. Dayton says, “Unless there’s some flexibility on their part, we really don’t have anything further to discuss.”
Republicans say Dayton violated the constitution by cutting off funding for the legislature effective July 1st.
