Governor Dayton and Republicans could still be headed for a showdown over proposed restrictions on fall application of fertilizer to farm fields. Dayton says his administration made “significant revisions” to the proposed rule and it now “has much broader acceptance… in the farm communities.” But House Republicans want to make sure the legislature still has oversight. Dayton calls that, “Once again, an intrusion of the legislative branch into the proper authority of the executive branch.” He adds, “I would veto that.”
But Dayton is less firm if the measure came to him in a larger bill with other things he wants — and that’s how House Republicans want to send it to him.
