Governor Dayton and legislative leaders meet this morning as they try to revive a bonding bill for state construction projects that died during a partisan squabble at the end of the legislative session. The parties are back at the table after a one-week “cooling off” period when Dayton traveled around the state promoting a bonding package. The governor says he won’t call a special session unless Republican leaders agree to a list of projects and programs he wants included in the bill. Republicans say Dayton isn’t willing to compromise. Among the most controversial areas: the dollar amount of the bill, how much should go for roads and bridges, and Democrats’ insistence on funding for Southwest Light Rail in the Twin Cities.
