Governor Mark Dayton meets with top Republican lawmakers this morning and says he wants specifics on their plans for transportation funding and other major issues, with under four weeks remaining in the session.
Dayton accuses Republicans of bringing forward measures like a transgender bathroom ban to make points in the November election. The governor says he’s “not gonna spend, like last year, five days and nights… trying to negotiate this stuff and compromise on stuff that… shouldn’t be in there to begin with.” Republicans respond some issues have Minnesotans concerned and the legislature needs to address them. oth sides have drawn lines in the sand over transportation funding. Senate Democrats unveil their bonding proposal for state public works projects early next week.
House Republicans say they’ll roll their plan out when the time is right.
